This walk is part along the route of the proposed fire track. The walk will start at the Orroral Valley car park, ascend via a ridge to the Trig, passing various boulders along the way. Proceed along the ridge, possibly to SH 1318, passing well known rock formations. Descend to the Orroral Valley and return to car park. Total climb 400m. Cars: 100 km ($10). Map: Corin Dam. Leader: Olivia D Climb about 210 m on track from the Nursery Creek car park on Orroral Road, to saddle. Rest or explore rocks, then down and along to Nursery Swamp. About 50m climb on the return. Total climb of 260m. Cars: 100 km ($10). Map: Rendezvous Creek. Meet at K.

Leader: Peter W From Rowleys Hut we climb up to a spur and then up the spur to the broad top of Mount Scabby for an explore. This top has good views and is an interesting plateau. Back the same way. All off track, probably a variety of ground with some light scrub. Several climbs totalling 600 m. Cars: 180 km ($18). Maps: Rendezvous Creek, Yaouk. Meet at K at 8.00 am.***

Sat 13 Oct Pine Island to Tuggeranong Creek Half Day Walk 6km Easy(5)
Leaders: Bent and Karen J From the parking area a round trip along the back of Greenway crossing Tuggeranong Creek. Then along the creek to the path that follows the Murrumbidgee River and back along this path. If you wish to eat lunch bring a picnic and we can eat at one of the Pine Island picnic areas after the walk. Meet at Pine Island parking area, where the old pine plantation was, at 9.00 am.***

Leader: Mac K From the Nursery Swamp car park, we head SW along the track to Nursery Creek and across the saddle to Rendezvous Creek. Continuing SW, a long, steep ascent takes us to Hill 1711 for lunch with great views. Return by the same route. Total climb 1000m. Cars: 100 km ($10). Map: Rendezvous Creek. Meet at K.

Leader: Peter B Walk on track to Boboyan Trig from where we can enjoy views of the Bimberi Wilderness. Then cross country involving a steep and rough descent of 250 m to Old Boboyan Road. We'll visit the ruins of the Boboyan Homestead before crossing Naas Creek and climbing a ridge to rejoin the Yerrabi Track. Total climb 540m. Cars: 120 km ($12). Map: Yaouk. Meet at K at 8.15. ***

Leader: John C Accommodation will be at Adobe Holiday Units at Mallacoota. They have 2 &3 bedroom units and the cost is about $100-$150 per week per person. A 50% deposit is required. There are sufficient walks to offer a choice of easy or medium walks on some days. Canoeing is possible and Peter W may organise some trips. Leader:Sandra W. We start at the Chisholm underpass on the Monaro Highway & follow the railway line south through farmland & then do a loop through bushland up & down Enchanted Hill. Panoramic views Climb 120m. Cars:10km ($1). Map: Tuggeranong. Meet at K.
Sun 21 Oct Mount Orroral 10km Medium (11) borderline hard due to fire regrowth.
Leader: Mac K From the Orroral Tracking Station car park we follow the Granite Tops Walking Track to the lunar laser ranging station. Turning SW, we head to the top of Mount Orroral, then follow the ridge NW for about a kilometre before descending back to the walking track and then back to the car park. Views and massive boulders and some hard going through the post-fire regrowth. Total climb 700 m. Cars: 90 km ($9) Map: Rendezvous Creek. Meet at K.

From Yankee Hat car park we will walk up Middle Creek south arm through open grass,light forest then a steep rough forest climb to a frost hollow campsite below Bogong Gap,8km,500m climb. Leader: Annabel A From the Mount Clear car park we'll walk along the fire trail and track to Demandering Hut where we'll stop for lunch. After lunch there will be an optional walk following the unnamed creek just below the hut to a rocky section of the Naas Creek. Return via similar route (total climb 200m). Cars: 140 km ($14). Leader: Trevor W. We leave the cars 10 km south of Captains Flat and walk up a fire trail to the summit of Mt Bollard. Then we descend south along the ridge and cross Ballinafad Creek, before climbing up Jinjera Hill. We return to the cars along the road. Total climb 400m

Leader: Peter W. We start at the locked gate on Mt Franklin Road, and walk in a straightish line to the falls for lunch, and then back. Unlike the now extremely scrubby route from Mount Franklin, this route is not burnt except near the falls, and is mainly open mature forest, with no or thin undergrowth. All off track. Lovely trees of several kinds. Total climb is 650 m. Cars: 160 km ($16), Map: Corin Dam. Meet at W at 8:30am***.

Leader: Jillian B). From the Glendale Crossing we follow the fire trail to the hut at picturesque Brandy Flat, where we will have lunch. Return by the same route. Leader: Doug F From the Bredbo-Jerangle road we climb steadily to the top of Mount Dowling (about 300 m) and views of the Murrumbidgee valley to the west and forested areas to the south and east. We continue on the Dowling Fire Trail along the ridge to the east and a car on the Good Good Road. Short car shuffle required. Cars: 160 km ($16).Map: Whinstone.Meet at K.

Leader: Doug W The campsite is on a beach next to the northern boundary of the Nadgee-Howe Wilderness Area,and will require a walk of about 3 km. There will be day walks from the camp on both Sat &Sun. The drive is about 4 hours from Canberra & cars can be parked at the ranger station. Contact Doug for more information. Leader: Sue W. Meet at Torrens, at 4.30 p.m. for entrée, then on to Fadden, for dinner, then to Mawson, for dessert, then back to Torrens for coffee and tea: about three hours walking. Bring a torch. We plan to walk between these homes, but if it rains we will drive. BYO drinks. Please ring Sue by Wednesday 31 Oct to organise food contributions for the dinner.

Leader: Margaret R) Even in drought, this brave alpine stream manages to burble and bubble, with green swathes inviting campers. We will walk to various hut sites and ruins, using faint bridle trails. A Friday start allows for two days of medium walks eg: Botheram Plain-Kalkite Mountain-Diggers Creek-Nimmo. (Exactly what we can do depends on the number of 4WDs available for access to start points.) Fisherpersons, sketchers and etchers also welcome. Leader: Lyn W. Starting at the Yankee Hat car park, we walk along the track to the rock paintings, where we have morning tea. Then continue up Middle Creek to an unnamed tributary and a lunch spot beside the creek. Return via hill 1107, the cascades and open grasslands to the car park. Total climb 250m. Cars: 110km ($11). SUN 25 Nov CORANG LAGOON, ARCH & PEAK 24 km Hard (12)
Leader: Doug F. From the Wog Wog entrance to the Moreton National Park we follow the track to Corang Lagoon. We will then walk upstream along the river to some spectacular geological rib features and then head up to Corang Arch, another quite spectacular feature. We will then follow the path back to the Wog Wog car park over Corang Peak. Great views over the wilderness areas to the east. A long walk but mostly on track. Cars: 250 km ($25). Map: Corang. Leader: Peter B. Set out from the arboretum along Sunny Corner Trail to the weir, then cross Condor Creek and climb 470 m through scrub to Hill 1215 for lunch. We then drop down Two Sticks Road to Piccadilly Circus. Return to cars via an old fire trail. Climb of 600 m.

Sentry Box from Yankee Hat Car park 12km walk 20 km bike ride. Hard (12).Leader: Max S. From Old Boboyan Rd car park bike ride to Lutons Crutching Shed where walk begins. Walk up a ridge to Sentry Box Hill and then on to Sentry Box Rock. Return approximately the same. Climb will have scrub and rock hopping. Walk all off track. Total climb 500 m. Expect a long day. Cars 130 km ($13). Map Yaouk.

Leader: Trevor B. This is a circular walk from the Yankee Hat Walking Track car park. We will visit the Aboriginal rock art, Frank and Jacks hut (for lunch), Hospital Creek Hut and Foresters Hut. Most of the walk is on tracks but there will be some parts off track through fairly open bush and not difficult under foot. Total climb: 290 m. Cars: 100 km ($10). Map: Yaouk. Meet at K.

Leaders: Richard & Jenny K Road entry has changed. Drive along Horse Park Drive past the Forde land sales office to the new Gundaroo Road turnoff. Go along Gundaroo Road for 2.2k to a sharp right turn with a Mulligans Flat sign. Go down this gravel road 1.8k to the old Mulligans Flat Car Park. The walk will vary for the group and temperature. Optional coffee at Gungahlin Town Centre afterwards. Map: Hall or Canberra Nature Park. Meet at Mulligans Flat car park at 7.30am.***

Leader: Trevor B. This is a triangular walk from Smokers Trail car park and is mostly off track with some rough sections after an initial 1 km along the trail. We turn off the trail and head for the open and rocky NW spur to climb the last 250m to Blue Gum Hill for lunch and extensive views of surrounding mountains. The return journey takes us along a gently undulating ridge SW with some views north to find an unnamed hill top near Emu Flat. We turn north to pass through Emu Flat and rejoin the trail near where we left it. Total climb: 500m.

2008 KOSCIUSZKO WEEKS WALKING We will stay in a lodge ,probably in Perisher, for a week in February,& walk in the National Park. The date is most likely the 23 February-1 March.
