Sun 1 April - HEAD OF SHOALHAVEN - 16 km Medium (9)
Leader: Peter W. We drive to 370158 near the head of the Shoalhaven River via Krawarree and Curranbene Roads (4WD desirable). We walk down the Shoalhaven River, and then back to the cars on a tributary past Wambagugga Swamp. This is a beautiful, low-relief, parkland part of the Tallaganda NP. Generally easy off-track walking, but 4 km on faint vehicle track. Total climb 200 m. Cars: 300 km ($30). Map: Snowball. Meet at Q at 8 am. ***

Leader: Alan S. This will be a relaxing time on the South Coast for 4 days. Camp will be at a private caravan park where Alan is one of the owners. Walks will be organised for each day as the mood suits the FBI participants. Cars: 2hr30m drive ($TBA). Contact Alan S or John C for details by 15 March.
Fri 6–Mon 9 Apr - IN PADDY PALLIN’S FOOTSTEPS TO MT JAGUNGAL - 4 day pack walk - Hard. Leader: Derek S. Fifteen years ago, "Wild" magazine published an account of Paddy Pallin’s preferred route to Mt Jagungal. This is a 47 km circuit walk via Round Mountain Hut, the Tumut River, Doubtful Gap, Cesjacks Hut, Mt Jagungal, Grey Mare Track and Farm Ridge Track. Paddy Pallin could do the walk in three days, but it takes us mortals four days. Substantial parts of the walk are off-track, and the regrowth after the fires could be thick. You do, however, have the satisfaction of following in the footsteps of a God! Cars: 500km ($50). Map: Khancoban 1:50000. Please contact Derek by 30 March.
Fri 6 Apr - GOOD FRIDAY, MT TAYLOR, FARRER RIDGE AND WANNIASSA HILL - 12 km Easy (5). Leaders: Bent and Karen J. Walk from Kambah Village to the top of Mt. Taylor then across to Farrer Ridge and over the top of Wanniassa Hill. Back along different tracks and the northern slopes of Mt. Taylor. Total climb 300 m. Meet at K.
Sat 7 Apr - EASTER SATURDAY, MORNING WALK, HISTORIC QUEANBEYAN - 7 km Easy. Leader: Jan B. We will walk from the pool, cross the border into Oaks Estate, along the river and back into NSW, and then through some of the older areas of Queanbeyan. Historic houses, churches, trees, and coffee and cake for morning tea. Please phone leader by Wed 4th so she can warn the coffee shop. Meet at Q.

Sat 14 Apr - MORNING WALK - PINE ISLAND TO POINT HUT - 8 km Easy (4). Leader: Margitta A. A loop walk along the back of Bonython, through the green belts of Gordon returning along the Murrumbidgee River. Bring morning tea. Meet at 8.50 am at the southern parking area at Pine Island.***
Sun 15 Apr - WILD CATTLE AND BALLINAFAD CREEKS - 14 km Medium (10). Leader: Peter W. We will leave the cars on the fire trail at GR246484, go 1 km south down to the creek, then do a circuit up Ballanifad Creek and back down Wild Cattle Creek. Tussocky creek flats, and open forest with scattered light scrub. Total climb 360 m. Average altitude about 1100 m. Maps: Tinderry, Kain. Cars: 120 km ($12). Meet at Q.

Sat 21 Apr - MT MAJURA, MT AINSLIE - 14 km Medium
Leader: Lorraine S. From Mt Majura car park we climb Mt Majura and then along ridgeline to Mt Ainslie. Down Mt Ainslie to War Memorial and back behind houses in Ainslie. Total climb 350 m. Canberra Street Map. Meet at Mackenzie Street entrance to Majura Nature Park, Hackett.
Sat 21 Apr - SENTRY BOX FROM YANKEE HAT CAR PARK - 12 km walk + 20 km bike ride Hard (12). Leader: Max S. From Old Boboyan Rd car park, bike ride to Luton’s Crutching Shed where walk begins. Walk up ridge to Sentry Box Hill and then on to Sentry Box Rock. Return approximately the same. Climb may have scrub and rock hopping. Walk all off track. Total climb 500 m. Expect a long day. Cars:130 km ($13). Map: Yaouk. Note – transporting bikes will be a logistical problem – please call at least 3 days in advance if you are interested, to see what can be arranged. Leader: Diana K. An easy walk on track to Square Rock for lunch with magnificent views to the Brindabella Range. The climb is a gradual 270 m. Leader: Robyn K. From the Orroral Tracking Station car park we follow the fire trail towards Cotter Gap. Turning into Smokers Trail we soon find another track which crosses Sawpit Creek, then runs along the centre of the main valley back to the car park. Total climb 280 m. Cars: 90 km ($9). Leader: Doug F. From the Brindabella-Tumut Road we climb about 250 m to the top of Mount Lickhole for views over the Brindabella Valley and back of the Brindabella Ranges. We then descend about 400 m along the southern ridge to Brindabella. Short car shuffle. Cars: 100 km ($10). Maps: Bobbys Plain, Brindabella. Meet at W.

Leader: John W. From the Glendale Crossing we follow the fire trail to the hut at picturesque Brandy Flat, where we will have lunch. Return by the same route. A good walk for families and beginners. Total climb 150 m. Cars: 85 km ($8). Map: Michelago. Meet at K.

Sat 12 May - HONEYSUCKLE CREEK, BOOROOMBA ROCKS, GORILLA ROCKS CIRCUIT - 11 km Medium (9). Leader: Paul N. Walk from Honeysuckle Creek to Booroomba Rocks car park on the Alpine Walking Track and then up the climbers track to the top of the rocks for good views into Blue Gum Creek and back to Canberra. Then cross the huge granite outcrops and descend through regenerating bush to Gorilla Rock (785623 on AGD66) and then off track back to the cars. Total climb about 350 m. Cars: 80 km ($8). Sun 13 May - CASTLE HILL - 9 km Easy (6)
Leader: Annabel A. The walk begins 3.5 km along the Booroomba Road. We proceed through open bush to the steep SE end of the ridge, then climb 250 m to the rocky summit where we can enjoy wonderful views of the river and the mountains. We follow the ridge down to a fence and return along the lower slopes to the east. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy near the end of the walk. Cars: 50 km ($5). Map: Tuggeranong. Meet at K.

Sat 19 May - TOR 789468 RENDEZVOUS CREEK Unnamed Rocky Knoll -10 km Medium (11). Leader: Mary H. We begin at a car park on the Boboyan Road near the bridge over Rendezvous Creek. We walk up stream parallel to the creek for about 3 km, then climb steeply to the knoll at 789486. Lots of beaut rocks. The near and distant views are superb. Return the same way. 500 metre climb. Sun 20 May - HONEYSUCKLE-ORRORAL VIEW, AROUND THE SPINNAKER - 8 km Easy (7). Leader: John C. Starting at Honeysuckle car park we walk off track, south over a low saddle and wide grassy plain to lunch on boulder outcrop looking SW over Orroral Valley, then back NW to the ‘collimation fire trail’. To this point it is medium going underfoot, in fairly open forest, parkland and grasslands. We then walk back along the road to the car. Total climb 300 m. Cars: 80 km ($8). Map: Corin Dam. Sun 20 May - DEVILS PEAK - 14 km Medium (11)
Leader: Peter B. From Blundells Flat we take the Pabral Road until it joins Two Sticks Road which we follow for a short distance before starting the climb to Devils Peak. After lunch we descend cross-country to Pabral Road. Half of the walk will be off-track through regenerating bush. Total climb is 650 m. Cars: 80 km ($8). Map: Cotter Dam. Meet at W.

Leader: Madeleine H. We walk from the end of Apollo Road along the foot tracks to Booroomba Rocks for panoramic views, and return the same way. A pleasant walk in open forest. Total climb 340 m. Cars: 80 km ($8). Map: Corin Dam. Meet at K.
Sun 27 May - BOBOYAN TRIG CIRCUIT - 14 km Medium (10)
Leader: Paul N. Walk on the Yerrabi Track to Boboyan Trig from where we can enjoy views of the Bimberi Wilderness. Then cross-country involving a steep, rough descent of 250 m to the Old Boboyan Road. The descent may have been made more difficult as a result of regrowth after the bushfires. We'll visit the ruins of Boboyan Homestead before returning to the cars. Total climb 240 m. Car shuffle. Cars: 120 km ($12). Map: Yaouk. Meet at K at 8.15 am***.

Sat 2 June -TINDERRY TWIN PEAK - 17 km Hard (13)
Leader: Max S. From Burra Road follow Mt Allen and West Tinderry (southward) fire trails to between Tinderry Peaks. Climb east along ridge line before ascending Tinderry Twin from the Southeast. Join West Tinderry Fire Trail to the north of peak. Return via fire trails. Approximately 10 km on track and 7 km off track. Off track is slow. Expect long day. Total climb 900 m. Cars: 100 km ($10). Leader: Peter B. From Pikes Saddle walk along the fire trail to Big Badja for views across to the ocean, Mt Dromedary and the Main Range of the Snowy Mts. Starting in Mackellar Crescent, Cook, we walk to the top of Mt Painter then along various tracks in the bush to the top of Black Mountain via Kier Trig in the Aranda bushland. From the car park we follow the Alpine Track footpad through wet and dry forest to the beautiful Bushfold Flats. We then follow the fire trail back to Apollo Road, and then up the road to the cars. . From Honeysuckle Creek tracking station we head for the tanks above it. Then climb through open bush to the top of hill1364. Our next move is in a westerly direction down to the open area between the hill. Climb through thick scrub with some rock scrambling to the rock known as the Spinnaker. Return via road. About 440 m total climb. Cars 80 km ($8). Map: Corin. Meet at K.

Leader: Doug F. We start at the old Boboyan road carpark and walk along the road to the Boboyan homestead ruins, then follow a watercourse to a viewpoint (1323 m altitude). Leader Jillian B. Start at London Bridge woolshed, go down to London Bridge arch,, go upstream of Burra Creek on right bank to Burra and return on left bank to cars. Cars: 40 km ($4). Maps: Captains Flat , Williamsdale. Meet at Q.
Sun 24 June - A WALK IN THE HILLS AND AFTERNOON TEA - 11 km Medium (8). Leader: Maureen F. One closer to home – the leader’s home anyway. Leave your car at the leader’s house in Torrens and walk the Farrer Ridge for views of the city and Tuggeranong, then on to Mt. Waniassa and Isaacs Ridge. Return to Torrens for tea and scones. Leader: Allan M. From the Orroral Valley Car park we walk 5 km along the road to the NW, climbing 200 m along the way. Near the source of Prairie Dog Ck, we leave the road and climb 200 m through medium forest on a heading of roughly north until we reach the rocky knoll marked as point 1339, where we hope to find views over the Valley. After lunch, we will descend steeply to the grassy valley and follow the Orroral River back to the cars. Some rock scrambling is possible. Cars: 100 km ($10). Map: Corin Dam. Meet at K.
